CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Beginners Yoga (Level 1)

The beginner Yoga class introduces the fundamental principles of alignment and breath work in a flow of postures linked together by the breath. Students will be introduced to yoga postures through step-by-step verbal description and demonstration.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga (Level 1 & 2 - depending on the class)

The word “Ashtanga” means having 8 parts and “Vinyasa” means flow. Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga works with the synchronization of deep, rhythmic breathing and movement. By linking the postures it creates a continuous flow of energy that heats up the body, bringing oxygen to the blood, nourishing the glands and internal organs, cleansing and purifying the nervous system, and releasing unwanted toxins through perspiration.

This class will be energetic and dynamic, combining flexibility and strength while preserving a sense of inward focus and dedication. There will be a strong emphasis on helping students find proper alignment before shifting deeper into a pose. Students will experience improved stamina, reduction of anxiety and stress, increased clarity of thought, general well-being, and an overall sense of serenity. By the end of each class, the goal is to have a better feeling and a stronger connection between the mind, body, and soul. Oh yeah, prepare to sweat!

Slow & Strong Flow (Level 1/2; some experience required)

A manageable but challenging pace to help connect to the asanas (poses) through longer holds, slower transitions, and deep breaths.  This class will utilize a slower approach to Vinyasa, which is a faster-paced style of yoga, with further detailed instructional cues to help build strength, encourage muscle memory, and connect the mind with the body.  Pranayama (breathing exercises) and a longer Savasana will be offered at the end of class.  It is suggested to have some experience with yoga before attending this class.

Stretch & Tone (Level 1& 2)

Discover new and different ways to advance your practice. Move mindfully while building both strength and balance on the mat, which will then manifest in your daily life. Expect to move with your breath and focus your attention; this well-balanced flow class will get you out of your head and into your body and breath; modifications always offered. Level 1/2.

Movements for Peace + Mobility (Beginner Level; All levels welcome)

A slow-paced class with yin poses that can benefit joint health and release tension from the muscle. Ends with nourishing, restorative yoga postures that can reduce stress, ease the mind, and take the body out of “fight or flight” mode.

Beginner's Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa Yoga is characterized by linking breath to movements. The focus is not just on the pose but on the breath that links each posture. Come to become more familiar with your body and foundational yoga poses. Improve your balance, gain better control of your muscles, and increase your range of mobility.

Gentle/Chair Yoga (Level 1)

This class begins with a focus on our breathing. Using the rhythm of our breath to guide gentle and slow-flowing movements we will explore sensations in our bodies, focus our minds and soothe our nervous systems. This can help us release muscular tensions, decrease our stress levels and increase our feeling of ease. Slowing down can also sharpen our ability to pay attention, expand our awareness and increase our sensitivity. In turn, this can improve sleep, reduce anxiety and ease physical and emotional pain. This class is perfect for beginners, those with limited movement ability and anybody looking for a deeper sense of nurturing and wellbeing.

HIIT

HIIT, or high-intensity interval training, is a training technique in which you give all-out, one hundred percent effort. It incorporates functional body movements, high periods of workout intensity and low periods of rest or active recovery, keeping your heart rate at an elevated state in a way you're constantly burning fat and building cardio.
